Why Community Herbalist Alliance?

I am excited to announce the new public, nonprofit extension of with Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine: The Community Herbalist Alliance.
Why am I doing this?  About 25 years ago, as a new, practicing herbalist, I found it hard to know how to get started and connect with herbalists.  As the years went on,  social media helped to connect plant people but I was still dissatisfied with large corporate, for profit companies connecting us.  It was hard to tell (and still is) who is authentic and genuine and shares common ideals.  I have worked to grow our herbal community for most of my adult life and it was distressing to see the pandemic break up us up and sever real connections.  Herb stores and schools closed, and the world shifted.  Now, as new herbalists and experienced herbalists work for plants and the planet in their corners of the planet, I am moving forward to make it real!  The intention of the Alliance is to support bioregional organizing, activism, research, education, and funnel people to local events.  Our instructors and alumni are scattered around the globe, and this Alliance is to keep us together in a curated and moderated platform as well as open our work to a larger community.  It is FREE to join.  We will be creating spaces in the network for beginners, experienced herbalists, growers, makers, researchers, and clinicians to share resources and support each other. There will be agreements for behavior and guildelines  for people before joining and then let the community building begin! Our advanced, professional apprentices and other cohorts will have private spaces as well to stay in touch, with even more livestream and in person connections to come.
